Putting God First in Everything

 “The First Appointment”

Darius was always busy. Between work, family, and personal goals, his days were packed from sunrise to late night. He loved God, but if he was honest, God usually got whatever time was left, quick prayers before bed or a rushed thought in the morning.

One day, after missing yet another quiet time, Darius felt a deep conviction: “If God is truly first in my life, why does He come last in my schedule?”

That question stayed with him.

The next morning, he made a small but powerful change. Before checking his phone, before planning his day, before anything else, he sat down, opened his Bible, and prayed.

At first, it felt unfamiliar. But as days passed, something shifted. His decisions became clearer. His stress decreased. Even when challenges came, he handled them with more patience and wisdom.

Darius realized something simple but life-changing: when God is first, everything else falls into place.

Moral Lesson

Putting God first is not just about words, it’s about priority. It means giving Him the first place in our time, our decisions, our relationships, and our ambitions.

Often, we fit God into our lives instead of building our lives around Him. But God doesn’t ask to be part of our schedule—He asks to be Lord over it.

When God is first:

  • Our choices are guided by His wisdom
  • Our hearts are anchored in His peace
  • Our lives reflect His purpose

Putting God first doesn’t mean life becomes easier, but it does mean we are no longer navigating life alone.
