LAZARUS RAISED FROM THE DEAD
The story of Jesus resurrecting Lazarus is found in the Gospel of John, chapter 11. Lazarus was a close friend of Jesus and his sisters, Mary and Martha. One day, Lazarus became very sick, and his sisters sent word to Jesus to come and heal him.
However, Jesus delayed his journey, and by the time he arrived, Lazarus had already died and had been buried for four days. When Jesus arrived, Martha went out to meet him, and expressed her faith in him, saying that she believed that even now, whatever Jesus asked of God, God would give him.
Jesus then went to the tomb where Lazarus was buried, and commanded that the stone covering the entrance be removed. Martha protested, saying that Lazarus had been dead for four days and there would be a terrible stench. But Jesus told her to have faith.
He then prayed aloud, thanking God for hearing him, and then called out to Lazarus in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” To the amazement of all the witnesses, Lazarus emerged from the tomb, still wrapped in his burial clothes.
Jesus then instructed the people to unwrap Lazarus and let him go free. This incredible miracle of Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, revealing his divine power and confirming his status as the Son of God.
This event caused many people to believe in Jesus and his message, but it also caused the religious leaders to become increasingly hostile towards him. The resurrection of Lazarus became one of the most significant miracles performed by Jesus, demonstrating his power over death and his divine nature.
