JESUS HEALS A BLIND MAN
One day, as Jesus was walking with his disciples, they came across a man who had been blind from birth. The disciples asked Jesus, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus replied, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.”
Jesus then spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. He then told him to go and wash in the Pool of Siloam. The man did as he was told, and when he washed the mud from his eyes, he was able to see for the first time in his life.
The man’s neighbors and those who had seen him begging as a blind man were amazed and b egan to ask him how he was able to see. The man told them that a man named Jesus had put mud on his eyes and told him to wash in the Pool of Siloam.
Some of the Pharisees heard about the miracle and questioned the man about it. They were upset that Jesus had performed this healing on the Sabbath, which they believed was against the law. They accused Jesus of being a sinner, but the man who had been healed said, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”
The Pharisees continued to question the man and his parents, but they could not deny that the man had been blind and could now see. Finally, they said to the man, “Give glory to God by telling the truth. We know this man is a sinner.” The man replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I do not know. But one thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.”
Jesus later found the man and asked him if he believed in the Son of Man. The man replied, “Who is he, sir? Tell me so that I may believe in him.” Jesus said to him, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.” The man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped Jesus.
This story of Jesus healing a blind man demonstrates his power and compassion, as well as his ability to challenge the religious authorities of his time. It shows that anyone, regardless of their circumstances or past, can receive healing and salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
