CAIN AND ABEL
Cain and Abel were the first two sons of Adam and Eve. Cain was a farmer and Abel was a shepherd. One day, they both decided to make offerings to God. Abel offered the best of his flock, while Cain offered some of his crops.
God favored Abel’s offering, but not Cain’s. This made Cain angry and jealous. God tried to counsel Cain, telling him that if he did what was right, he would be accepted.
However, Cain could not control his jealousy and anger. He called Abel to go for a walk with him and when they reached a field, Cain attacked Abel and ended up killing him.
When God asked Cain where his brother was, Cain lied and said he didn’t know. But God knew the truth and punished Cain by banishing him from the land and making him a wanderer. Cain went to the land of Nod, where he had children and built a city.
The story of Cain and Abel is often interpreted as a lesson about jealousy, anger, and the importance of doing what is right in the eyes of God.
It also shows the consequences of giving in to negative emotions, such as Cain’s jealousy and anger, which led to the first murder in human history.
